Ellen
Clippinger
Founder and CEO
Ellen Clippinger is the founder and CEO of
AYS, Inc. (At-Your-School Child Services). For over 25 years, Ellen has been developing
AYS into a child and youth service agency, providing before- and after-school
programs, training, and resource and referral. Along with the board of directors,
she is responsible for setting and implementing strategic direction, approving
and managing budgets, and determining agency policies and procedures.
Nationally,
Ellen is a Training Associate for the National Institute on Out-of-School Time
at Wellesley College. In this capacity she travels across the country to lead
specialized training sessions for educators and practitioners. She has served
as a board member and president of the National AfterSchool Association (formerly
the National School-Age Care Alliance). In her capacity as NSACA president for
four years, she sat on planning committees for national conferences, oversaw the
introduction of national standards and an accreditation process for after-school
programs, and attended the White House Conference on Child Care in 1998.
In
Indiana, Ellen has served on the Board for the Coordination of Child Care Regulation,
as President of the Marion County Step Ahead Council, and as training co-chair
for the Indianapolis AfterSchool Coalition. In addition, she is the founder and
past president of the Indiana School Age Consortium and was instrumental in developing
the Indiana Youth Development Credential. Ellen is a current board member of the
Children's Coalition.
Having
taught high school English for eight years, Ellen also served as a faculty member
at Ivy Tech State College for 10 years. She holds a B.A. in English literature
from DePauw University and a Master of Arts in Education from Concordia University,
St. Paul, MN.
