to payments not received by the due date. Cards will not be issued until payment
has been received. We accept payment by cash, check, money order, Mastercard and
Visa. If you intend to pay by credit card you must first complete an authorization
form (available upon request).
The class I'm interested in is full. Can you squeeze in just one more person?
We're sorry, but if a class is listed as full that means all seats are reserved. We follow a strict teacher to student ratio per American Heart Association standards. However, a seat may become available if someone cancels so feel free to ask about a waiting list for a particular class!
Does
the CPR card specify training in choking?
Yes.
What's
the difference between "First Aid" and "Pediatric First Aid"?
"Pediatric
First Aid" focuses on providing first aid to infants and children. In
addition to the "basics" (cuts, burns and falls), it covers information
such as removing a splinter, what to do if a baby tooth comes out, how to interact
with children of different ages and safety tips around the home. This course is highly recommended for those working
with children, such as daycare providers, teachers and foster parents. Parents
and Grandparents also benefit greatly from this course!
"First
Aid" focuses on providing first aid to the adult population. While it
covers the first aid "basics" that usually come to mind (cuts, burns
and falls) -and can be applied when providing first aid to a child- it also discusses
adult scenarios such as a stroke or heart attack.
I
am seeking my IN state teaching and/or substitute teaching license. Does your
certification meet the requirements?
Yes! Upon completion of the course you will receive an American Heart Association CPR
card (includes choking) valid for two years.
Is
this a course for healthcare providers?
No, this course is NOT
intended for healthcare providers. If you are seeking a healthcare provider CPR
course, please contact us and we will refer you to a facility that provides this
training.
When
will I receive my cards?
We understand that many students need
their cards immediately. In most cases we are able to deliver the cards the same
day. In the event that we are unable to do that, we can provide a letter of certification
(valid for two weeks) until your cards arrive. However, please note that a letter
of certification and/or cards will not be provided until payment has been received.
Thank you!
For
how long are cards valid?
Cards
are valid for two years.
I attended one of your classes but have misplaced my card(s). Can I get new copies?
If you received certification from one of our classes, your certification has not expired, and your account is in good standing, you may order duplicate copies. There is a $5.00 processing fee PER CARD. Payment must be received before cards will be issued.
Does
your training include Universal Precautions training?
Yes, if
you attend a First Aid course. This includes training on the use of gloves, goggles,
hand washing, and proper disposal of contaminated materials. Printed certificate available upon request.
I
only need to take a CPR course, but all classes are listed as CPR & First
Aid. What should I do?
Please specify when you call that you only
need to take a portion of the class. You will only be billed for that portion
of the class and may leave once that section is completed.
How
should I dress for the class?
We recommend wearing casual &
comfortable clothing as you will be moving often during CPR practice. You should
also bring a light sweater or jacket in case the room is cool that day. Please tie back long hair and do not wear lipstick.
Can
I bring my children?
No. While we love children, this class is
not intended for children. Please make other arrangements for child care. Thank you for your cooperation!
Will
I really have to reschedule if I arrive later than
fifteen minutes after class begins?
Yes. We understand that things
(and traffic) happen. However, we have found that late arrivals are disruptive
to the class already in progress. It is also difficult for the instructors to
help late arrivals catch up while continuing forward with other students. We therefore
ask for your cooperation in planning ahead and respecting our policy. If you do
arrive later than fifteen minutes, we ask that you do not interrupt the class
and call us to reschedule.
Why should I choose AYS for my CPR training?
Well, we're friendly people and genuinely believe in teaching the community these lifesaving skills. We strive to keep our class fees low while still providing a thorough, comfortable learning experience. You will receive an actual book with CD (not just a condensed booklet) and a nifty pen. Plus, you can feel good knowing that proceeds from a class go toward serving the AYS mission of caring for children in Central Indiana!
