AYS Shines at Diva Fashion Extravaganza

Dedicated volunteers and community support resulted in a very successful second annual Diva Fashion Extravaganza on March 10. AYS raised just over $10,000 for AYS' financial assistancefund. Corporate sponsors for the event were Crowe Chizek, Clifton Gunderson, Creative Approaches, Forum Credit Union, Healy Awards, The National Bank of Indianapolis, Indy Office Solutions and Lee Hecht Harrison.

The financial assistance fund allows AYS to provide tuition subsidies to working parents who could not otherwise pay for AYS services and may not qualify for government funding. Contributions from the community ensure that more children have a safe place to go during out-of-school time.

Heather McCabe, an AYS parent and the director of the public health law program at Indiana University's School of Law, reflected on the benefits of AYS for her family. Kim Donahue, director of the Non-Profit Training Center at United Way of Central Indiana, emceed the event at the Mansion at Oak Hill in Carmel. Adult models showed off ladies' fashions from Lilly's Boutique Gallery of Zionsville for the second year. Jack and Jill Children's Shoppe, also of Zionsville, added child models to the show for the first time.

In addition to the fashion show, guests enjoyed a luncheon and chocolate fountain dessert. Guests left with items purchased from the silent auction, as well as small, handmade bags created by children at AYS programs at Forest Hill, Hazel Dell, and Hinkle Creek.
