"Fire
Safety House" Visits North Elementary AYS Program
Leslie
Hankins
The
Fire Safety House visited the AYS program at North Elementary to teach
the students about fire safety. The trailer, sponsored by the fire departments
of Noblesville, Westfield, Fishers, Cicero, and Jackson Township and Delta Theta
Tau Sorority, Inc., has a living room, kitchen, and bedroom where students learn
about fire safety and prevention. A mailbox outside the trailer serves as a meeting
place when the house fills with simulated smoke and a smoke detector
prompts the children to exit to safety.
During
the tour of the trailer, students learned important emergency numbers and the
importance of having a plan in case of a fire at home. More importantly, the students
received valuable tips on preventing fires.
