Miss Indiana, Deputy Mayor Join AYS Mardi Gras Mambo Parade Lineup
Miss Indiana USA 2007 Jami Stallings and Deputy Mayor Steve Campbell will lead the seventh annual AYS Mardi Gras Mambo parade on February 24 at 2:30 p.m. The parade has also expanded to incorporate six floats from Expo Design, featuring AYS’ Strange Rhythms drumming group, YMCA Achievers, Mass Ave Fringe Festival and Theatres, Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Brighthouse Networks and Radio Now. An expected 1,000 children, parents and community members from 20 AYS programs and eight community agencies and businesses will march to celebrate multicultural diversity and community pride.

The parade kicks off from the Center Township Trustee parking lot in Indianapolis. A reception will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the YMCA at the Athenaeum. The reception will offer refreshments, a live jazz band, free identification cards for children from Kids BMV sponsored by Clarian Health and an information fair featuring the following community organizations:

AYS Inc.
AYS (At Your School) provides quality before and after-school care in schools across central Indiana.

YMCA
The YMCA builds strong children, strong families and strong communities.

Mass Ave Merchants Association:
The merchants have gathered to provide coupons and information for businesses and entertainment in the Mass Ave Cultural District.

Habitat for Humanity
Learn about applying or volunteering for a Habitat for Humanity home.

International Training in Communication:
Provides training in leadership and communication skills for children and adults.

Lost & Found
Provides after-school programs that specialize in enhancing athletic skills, interpersonal skills and personal development with a focus on basketball.

St. Florian Center / VOICE
VOICE is a youth oriented, youth led group of middle and high school students who inform their peers and others about the dangers of tobacco.

Inquisitive Kids
Provides a free monthly Inquisitive Kids publication to third, fourth, and fifth-grade students in Central Indiana.

Kool Smiles
Kool Smiles provides quality dental care to children with limited access to oral health services.

Indianapolis Metropolitan School
The Indy Met is a charter high school that focuses on individualized learning through non-paid internships that give students real world learning and skills.

Clarian Fitness and Nutrition Network (FANN Van)
The FANN Van has exciting programs that educate parents and children of the health dangers of a poor diet and lack of exercise.
