The
AYS early childhood program at Stony Creek Elementary in Noblesville has earned
accreditation from the National
Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The program joins
two other AYS early childhood programs, as well as over 11,000 early childhood
programs across the country, boasting the national seal of approval.
In recent years,
weve seen a growing number of child care and preschool programs earning
NAEYC accreditation, said Mark Ginsberg, Ph.D., executive director of NAEYC.
By earning accreditation, AYS has become a leader in a national effort to
raise the quality of early childhood education, and to help give all children
a better start.
NAEYC
created its accreditation program in 1985 to set professional standards for early
childhood education, and to help families identify high-quality child care and
early education programs. AYS first NAEYC accredited program at Harcourt
Elementary (Washington Township- Indianapolis) received accreditation in 1999.
Following a program self-study, the program is observed by independent, professional
validators and reviewed by a national panel. NAEYC accreditation is valid for
five years.
AYS
currently operates 45 programs ranging from early
childhood to school-aged, five of which are early childhood programs. AYS programs
are located in Marion, Hamilton, Hendricks, and Montgomery counties.
