Help AYS Explore for Another 40 Years!

For 40 years, we’ve scoured unmapped territories in the world of out-of-school time programming, discovering new ways to elevate children’s learning and social-emotional well-being. AYS meets a basic need for Indiana families. While parents are at work, they need to know their kids are in a safe environment where they can learn and grow. With innovative curriculum, caring staff, and a commitment to student enrichment, AYS has always been here to take families further.

We treasure our kids, parents, donors, staff, board members, and everyone else who has helped drive the AYS mission. Without you, our quest to 40 years would not have been possible. Your support will ensure that we are able to continue enriching the lives of central Indiana families for the next 40 years. Over the course of the next year, we will celebrate our 40th anniversary by getting into full adventure mode, highlighting our discoveries, sharing stories, and showcasing the exploration that occurs at our programs on a regular basis. We’d love for you to join us in our celebration!

For 17 years, I was the principal at a school that had an AYS program. During that time, AYS staff members were totally dedicated to their work and were well-liked by parents, students, and school staff. AYS provided many opportunities for arts and crafts, outside play time, and social time, as well as time needed for students to complete their homework. I had a licensed therapy dog who would attend AYS with the students after school, as she loved all the attention she got from the students. I would call her over the loud speaker and she would come running to the office with a couple of students following her. AYS provided a warm and loving environment.

Congratulations on your 40th anniversary! AYS’ adaptability during the COVID-19 pandemic has shown great perseverance and dedication. The students you serve may not be thanking you now, but their enhanced opportunities in the future will give witness to the encouragement you are currently giving them. You are helping to make your students’ next 40 years better ones.

AYS is a gem that fills a gap between what schools can provide and what you can provide as a working parent. I worked four days a week for many years when my kids were young. AYS allowed me to transition to five days a week, and I eventually became a partner/owner in my firm, which was a goal of mine.
