Ms. Struben has dedicated her career and volunteer work to youth-and-family-serving organizations. As a parent of an AYS participant, she knows firsthand the impact our programs have on youth, families and communities. Passionate about family and children’s issues, she served as a vice president at Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky, a two-state organization, where she led a large team and was responsible for increasing the organization’s visibility, improving education programs and securing gifts from individuals, private foundations, and government entities. Prior to this, Ms. Struben led the day-to-day marketing operations at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.
Ms. Struben currently serves on the Great Places 202o Education Committee and is a member of the Out of School Time Learning Advisory Board. She is a former member of the Domestic Violence Network board of directors, an alumna of the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana’s first OPTIONS class and has served as a volunteer for Girls, Inc., Race for the Cure and Mapleton-Fall Creek Community Development Corporation.
With a bachelor of arts degree in organizational communication from Purdue University, Ms. Struben has recently resumed coursework towards a master of business administration at Butler University.
Ms. Struben joined AYS in September 2014 in her role as President/CEO, but has been a part of the AYS family as a parent using our services since 2011. Her experience and vision will help AYS serve more low-income families, increase enrichment offerings at all sites, and ensure that all AYS sites maintain high-quality standards.
