Closings & Delays
Always call ahead to make sure staff have arrived safely and opened the program. Click below for program contact info:
Due to COVID-19’s impact on enrollment and operations, AYS will NOT operate full-day snow sites this year in any school districts in the event that schools announce snow day closures in advance.
If the beginning of the school day is delayed, AYS programs will operate on a one-hour delay, unless restricted by the school*, and will remain open until school starts. You are encouraged to call the program to ensure staff arrived at the site. If any non-AYS families need our service, they have the option to participate by completing a One Day Enrollment Form and paying the applicable fees.
If conditions worsen to a state of emergency after the program opens, AYS will not accept any more children at the site. If the conditions do not improve, AYS administration will decide on the best course of action.
*SENSE Charter School will NOT operate an AYS morning program if a delay is issued for any reason.
If school is cancelled due to bad weather or another emergency, AYS will NOT operate.
If students are released early due to bad weather or another emergency, the Youth Development Leader will get to the school as soon as possible to receive the children unless restricted by the school. Youth Development Leaders may notify the parents that school is being dismissed early, but that AYS will remain open unless otherwise decided by AYS administration.
AYS is open on all regular school days and early release days. AYS is closed on the following holidays:
New Year’s Day
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Day after Thanksgiving
AYS families who have a weekly attendance plan pay nothing extra for one-hour delays and early release days. Families that use AYS only occasionally will be charged an additional fee. When AYS is unable to operate due to severe weather, regular weekly fees are still due.
