These programs provide a safe place for children during out-of-school hours where they participate in a variety of educational and enriching activities led by trained staff. AYS Cloud TrioThese programs focus on four primary curriculum areas:

  • Literacy is supported through independent reading lounges, theater clubs, reading rewards, letter writing activities and read aloud programs.
  • Math focuses on numeracy, spatial reasoning and problem solving, with math table games, physical math games and construction stations that encourage participation in math activities.
  • Health focuses on healthy habits, outdoor play and physical fitness, implemented through outdoor activities, free play, healthy cooking clubs, fitness tracking and special games.
  • Social development focuses on service, good citizenship, and character development, which is supported through philanthropy, youth leadership opportunities, multi-cultural studies, cooperative games and character building activities.

In addition, AYS programs offer a monthly STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) Week. This week is meant to instill an interest and foster engagement in the STEM fields and help the children develop an appreciation and knowledge of visual and performing arts. When possible, AYS works with community partners to offer specialized programming around enrichment focus areas.

Before- and after-school programs include a healthy morning and afternoon snack, dedicated homework time, and at least 30 minutes of physical activity per day.

Each week, Camp AYS features a different theme, with activities and field trips that support the weekly theme.

AYS believes that all families should have access to safe, fun and enriching opportunities for their children outside of the school day. AYS sites are approved for Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) vouchers. We also offer financial assistance to families who do not receive CCDF. We also work with school personnel and families to include children with special needs in our programs whenever possible.
